The Athletic News says that the decision of the 'French Rugby Federation has aroused considerable indignation on the part of the Northern Union Council. France's objection is based on the ground of professionalism, but -when the soil of France was in need «i protection in 1914, the Northern Union luda ' in Yorkshire and Lancashire who volunteered did not pollute La Belle France. [A message published a few days ago stated: The French Rugby Federation decided that the club which owns the ground on which it was proposed that an English Northern Union team should play the Australasian touring team on 29th January should be immediately disqualified.
