DAMAGE BY FIRE

(DT TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) TE AWAMUTU, This Day. A fire occurred at midnight in a large iron building owned by Lawson and I Swain, and occupied by Boyce and Faw■cett, auctioneers. It originated in the > back part of the building, and quickly spread along' the roof until the whole etructure was aMaze. The brigade succeeded in confining the fire to this build-' >ing, -which adjoins large blocks, but; not before it was gutted and the., contents almost completely ruined. The insurances were £800 on tho building in the .State office, and £400 on tho stock in the Standard office. The loss considerj ably exceeds those figures.
