Considerable interest is being shown in the Island Bay spring- garden fete whioh is to be held at "The Pines," Island Bay, on Saturday, 24th September. The Governor-General, Viscount Jelliooe, Lady Jellicoe and suite, will be present, and will open the fete at 2 p.m. Highly attractive grounds, charming decorations, novel side-shows, including a light railway train to tho mountain house; boating trips to tho Island in the "Iron Duke" and tho "Iron Duchess" will bo amongst tho many features. Tickets of admission should be procured from tho committee. At the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall to-morrow night, Mr. Vivian H. R. Deacon will lecture on "Man's Life in Three Worlds,"
