WELLINGTON AUTOMOBILE

OLUB,

A committee meeting of the Wellington Automobile Olub was held this week at the secretary's office, 12, Panamastreet. There wero present :—Messrs. G. M. Banks (chairman), B. Donne, W. Mantell, J. J, Williamson, H. iloyd, and &. H, Underwood. .'

The following new members . were elected:—Father T. F. Connolly, Messrs. Gamble and Creed, and A. T. Knight, Mrs. 0. L-irrklater, Messrs. 0. H. Dement, J. Cheesman, P. O. Luxford, H. 0. Rudkin, Dr. E. M. Litchfield, and. Messrs. W. E. Kemier,~"W."" Steel-, L.,Potley,.. Correspondence;was received from the Loan and Mercantile Agency, Stratford, expressing approval of the club's suggestion that local motor clubs or associations should be formed from Wellington to Ne\v Plymouth. It was decided to refer tho matter to the New Zealand Automobile Union.

The Minister of Public Works wrote thanking the club for its expression of approval on the various points outlined to the press in connection .with the propos&d new Main Roads Bill.

A member wrote in reference .to' the proposed new bylaw charging increased license fees for motor delivery vans. It was decided that this matter is outside the club's province, and it was recommended that a protest should bo mado to tho City Council Bylaws Committee. Tho matter of license fees charged by local councils was. discussed, and'"it was decided to refer tho matter to the New Zealand Automobile Union, as the charges were becoming excessive to a,ny owner of a motor-Vehicle when delivering in tho adjoining districts. Tho secretary reported that he had secured through a broker £300 worth of soldiers stock, .with a view to creating a reserves fundl.
