ALARMING FALL IN REVENUE,

CAPETOWN, 18th April. The Minister of Railways (Hon. J. W. Jagger), in introducing the Railway Budget in the Legislative Assembly, ptatet} that' the accumulated deficit at the e,nd of 1920 was two and a half niillione. The estimated expenditure for the coming year was 26 million, and the revenue 25^ million, making a total deficit of three million. He hoped to wipe out the deficit by rigid economy arid postponing the proposed extensions. He staged that the railway revenue was falling off to an ajarming extent.
