Mr. Lloyd George, in the House of Commons, anno\inced that Germany was siijl in default and had not showed any inclination to furnish practical proposals to carry out the Treaty. It was imperative that the . Allies should confer in regard to the necessary steps to enforce the Treaty. (PUBLISHED IN THE TIKES.) PARIS, 18th April. The Germans are fervently clutching at any expedient to prevent the occupation of the Ruhr Basin. It is now understood that they have asked the Vatican to approach the United States and a-sk the latter to act as mediator.
