Following on the announcement of Mr.. Hislop's retirement a very large deputa* tion waited on Mr. Len M'Kenzie with; the view of considering with him his future plans with regard to the Mayoralty under the new situation. - Mr.' 1 M'Kenzie, on the advice of the committee) decided to adhere to his previous decision to withdraw from the contest,, but agreed.to stand for election to the City Council. Also at the wish of the committee he decided definitely to contest the Mayoralty against all-comers at the nexta election two years hence. The- committee decided' unanimously to support Mr.. M'Kenzie on that occasion, ' and congratulated him upon the consistent atti- , tude he had adopted from the beginning.
