SUNDAY SCHOOL UNION

The monthly meeting of the Sunday School Union was held last week in St. James's Schoolroom. Mr. J. H. Kraft presided over a good attendance of delegates and visitors. The report of the Levin Convention was received, and considered very satisfactory. As a result of the Convention Miss Warner, of Auckland, had come to Wellington and given a very successful demonstration along somewhat new lines of primary work. It was ajinounced that at least three schools were adopting some of the improved methods advocated by Mies Warner. / It was resolved to ask Mesdames Gill and Atkinson, and Messrs. Hopkirk, Grill, and Leslie, to again act as examiners for the ensuing scholars' examination. The matter of winter meetings for teachers was discussed, and the executive wa« asked to bring down a report at the next monthly meeting. The^ secretary reported that it was proposed to hold a Youth Workers' Institute during August, at which the union would be invited to co-operate. The Auckland Union wrote in regard - to co-operation in the matter of teacher training and other matters. They sug- >' gested that it might be possible for three or four Auckland experts to pay a visitto Wellington and give a demonstration in methods of class work.

Mr. N. B. Seddon, on behalf of the Brooklyn School, invited the union to hold its next meeting in that district. The invitation iras accepted. After the close of the usual business, Mr. W. E. Howe read a paper on "The Absentee Scholar," which was freely discussed. Supper, was provided by the ladies of St. James's School. On the motion of Mr. Kraft, a hearty vote of thanks was accorded to the ladies for ' their' hospitality.
