MAGISTRATE'S COURT

Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., dealt with police cases at tho Magistrate^ Court to-day.

May Gibbons was convicted upon charges of drunkenness and breaking a cell window at the police station, and, in view of her previous bad record, was ordered to undergo a term of 'two years' reformative detention.

Frederick Joseph Nicholson was fined 103 for a e.econcl offence of drunkenness, the. alternative being fixed at 48 hours' imprisonment.

George Harrington Dench pleaded guilty to charges of drunkenness and stealing an - overcoat from a boardinghouse. He had wandered into tho boardinghouse and taken a lady's overcoat from tho hall, but was seen by a lady boarder, 1 who followed him into tho street, and took tho coat from him. Hi<> previous record was Had, and the Magistrate Kent him to gaol for a month on tho charge of theft. On the minor charge ho was ordered to pay a fino of 20a or to servo a week's impnsonmont.
