MASTERTON, This Day.
Delegates from the Masterton Branch of the Returned Soldiers' Association Waited upon the butchers at the Waingawa Freezing Works on Saturday in regard to the alleged victimisation of a returned soldier named Hayes. The butchers gave tho deputation a hearing, but made it clear that if Hayes returned they would leave the .boards. The executive^ of tho R.S.A. intends meeting again to discuss the position. Fine'rain fell throughout the Wn.irarapa on Saturday and Sunday. It-has had a splendid effect upon pastures and root crops. Mr. L. M. Isitfc, M.P., of Christehurch, is at present on a holiday visit to the Wairarapa. Several important sales of town property have recently boen made in Masterton. In one case £ ICO per foot was paid for a frontage at the .lorth end of the main street.
