HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY

The annual meeting of the Hataitai Horticultural Society was held last evening, , Mr. A. .Leigh Hunt presiding. The annual report suggested, to the incoming committee that, in view of many re- | ouests, a spring show should be arrangedl for the ensuing year, say, at the latter end of September, and, in order to further this, a. small sub-committee had been set up to -draw^ up a suitable schedule to assist the new committeeshould the members' consider the advisability of holding this show. The society had taken up the task of! improving all -the waste ground in the suburb, anil had been' ably supported by the Reserves and Outlying Districts Committees, who- had made a substantial beginning in improving several ugly corners. These were to be supervised, after completion, by the. Horticultural. Society, and the committee trusted that all residents would help in keeping these plantations in order, and check any who might be seen destroying or tampering with the shrubs, etc.

Kifcshhig, Gr'sensiade, Scott. Messrs. A. G. Barnett, Binnie. Greensill, Burt, and Hilton; secretary, Mr. B. K. Lankshear; treasurer, Mr. F. Scott; auditor, Mr J L. Arcus. .

It was resolved that the incoming committee shouH be requested to hold a spring show if possible '
