MIRAMAR BOROUGH COUNCIL

The Miramar Borough Council met last night, the Mayor (Mr. ■W. Stone) presiding. There were also present:—Councillors Robertshaw, Collie, Gardiner, Hicks, Barnett, and Mrs. M'Vicar.

Tho Karori Borough Council wrote asking tho Miramj.l* Council's support for a remit to be placed before the next Municipal Conference dealing with the limit of general rating power, and asking that the limit be raised. The remit is as follows:—"That owing to the great increase in cost of material and. labour, and the continual reductions in the valuation roll under section 26 of the Valuation of Land Act, 1903, tho limit of ■ three-half-pence in tho £ on the capital value is. insufficient to carry on the ordinary work of a borough, and that the limit be now raked to provide for the extra cost.''—• The council decided to leave the. matter in the hands of its delegate attending the Municipal Conference. The Mayor thanked Councillor Collie for his generous spirit in providing trees for planting in Worser Bay.
