SOLDIERS' CLUB-HOUSE SOCIETY

■ The second fortnightly winter smoke concert of the Eeturned Soldiers' Clubhouse Society was held in the clubhouse last night. These gatherings are distinctly popular with returned men, and last night's audience was again a large one. The programme was provided by the society's Glee Club, a most versatile combination of performers, who sang and recited to the very evident satisfaction of the audience. l)uring the evening the president of the society (Mr. J. P. Maxwell) referred to the excellent result of -the appeal for funds recently made by the ladies' organisation on behalf of the society, and the gathering expressed its appreciation by passing a hearty vote of thanks to all those "who assisted.
