BROOKLYN HARRIERS

The Brooklyn Harriers and. A.A. Club held its throo-niilo sealed handicap .from Seatoim bn Saturday afternoon in cold weather. There was a largo attendance of friends and supporters to witness the contest, which was a,- very interesting race. The runners, wove sent on-their journey by Mr. Bi'btoiv (yice-preeidont) from «n excellent start. D. Harbison at once took the lead, which position he maintained until the bottom of the Wor'ser Bay hill, when R. - Watedn assumed the lead, the hill tiring <a number of the men. Once over the hill on to the Miramar flat C. Cummins moved up to the first position, closely followed by N. Meech. A strong southerly wind was blowing, and told on the competitors a. great deal. When passing the gasworks I<\ Harion made a move to first place, and maintained that position until the road was readied. Then R. Watson and N. Ucech took up the lead, which places they kept until the tunnel. N. Meech, who was running with good judgment, then went to the front, and won a, good race from R. . Watson second; with L. Todd, who put up'a good race, running third, 200 yards from homo. On opening o£ the sealed handicap it was found that F. Harlen was the winner, with N. Meech second and L. Todd third. The new liandicapper, Mr. 1). Wilson, is to be congratulated on the close finish, as only 6sec separated the placed me. The trail was in charge of J. Douglas, with K. Cummins and D. Wilson assisting. The runners then adjourned to afternoon tea, with their friends and supporters, at the Tea Kiosk. The next run will bo held at Island Bay on Saturday, wet or fine."
