The Wanganui Harbour Board's new dredge Kaione is to be dehvered in New Zealand by the Admiralty at a cost of £5700. The vessel is to be insured for £80,000. The chairman of the board (Mi\ Bignell) has gone to Greymouth, Westport, and Lyttelton, with a view to ascertaining What plant is available in the way of cranes, etc.
A defended case, heard. in the Magistrate's Court to-day, before Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M;, was that of J. Dawson, electrical engineer,"of Wellington, v. J.; S. M'Conkey, marble bar proprietor, of Palmerston North, a claim for £58 17s, being the balance alleged to be due in connection with a contract for electric fittings, etc. Evidence was given by plaintiff and defendant, but the case had not concluded when The Post went to sreaa,
