INTERNATIONAL ARMY

THE DEMAND OF FRANCE

TO PREVENT FUTURE ASSAULTS.

(DOTTED PRESS ASSOCIATION.—COPYRIGHT.)

(AUSTRALIAN-NHW ZEALAND CABLB ASSOCIATION.)

(Received February 13, 1 p.m.)

PARIS, 12th February.

France has formally demanded the creation of an international army as an integral part of the society of nations. Without such an army, the land frontiers of France would be unprotected against future assaults. - | M. Leon Bourgeois, in submitting the demand, said it was easy for Britain, protected by the Channel, and easy for the United States, protected by the ocean, to take the attitude that an international army was unnecessary. France was unprotected, and must have something more than a beautiful experiment to safeguard her against attack. (Received February 13, 3.20 p.m.) PARIS, 12th February. It is understood that the British and American representatives for the Society of Nations have adopted the French views as to the necessity for an international army.
