DANNEVIRKE SHOW

GOOD ATTENDANCE

AW • ]_XCM__3NT DISPLAY,

(MQ- OCR SPICIAL UFOHTIB.)

PALMERSTON. N., This Day.

The Dannevirke District Agricultural and Pastoral Association's Annual Show wa6 opened yesterday. The weather was fine but dull. The attendance was remarkably good for a-first, day. The Dannevirke people are most enthusiastic in regard to their Show ; the interest displayed by business-people and farmers alike bids fair to make this annual fixture one of the most important and popular of the younger associations in the Dominion.

The total entries were in excess of. those of any previous year, and, while some well-known district exhibitors were unable to show, mainly owing to. shortaga of labour, this was amply compensated for by the great influx of outside exhibitors, new to Dannevirke. This was most noticeable in the sheep, cattle, and horse classes. In the competitions' in home industries the display was an exceptionally good) r one, and equalled the best seen at any show for years past. Dogs were present in strong 'force, and created keen competitoo in all classes. The association's grounds were in excellent condition, and Mr. Stubbs (the secretary) and the other officials ware most prompt in their work and courteous to all.
