WEATHER FOR CHRISTMAS
Once again, after four years of war, and the more immediate worry of the epidemic, the weather has come into its own, for tho time being at .any. rate,, as a main topic of conversation. During the past 24 hours the weather has'been' cool and changeable-generally, and 6cattered.showers have fallen in East Cost ; districts and also about Cook Strait. Moderate to strong southerly winds ha,vo prevailed. This morning's weather map !shows that an anticyclone practically envelopes the Dominion, its centre boirig to the ■ south; while both to the east, over the Chatham Islands, and to the west, over the Tasrnan Sea, systems of low pressure are in evidence. , That over the Chathams has been responsible for the continuance of the unsettled conditions, and the disturbance' over the Tasman Sea is likely to effect conditions unfavourably. >' The forecast is for moderate to strong southerly winds, giving place shortly to ■ increasing' northerlies. The'weather is likely to become " unsettled generally, with rain following, in most parts of *'ie Dominion.
