EFFICIENCY INCREASED FIFTY PER CENT. Insurance companies are not, generally speaking, concerns v which give their approbation without good reason for co doing. The Ocean Accident and Guarantee Corporation, Ltd., of London, have issued from their head office in New York the statement that they "do not guess—they know—that a. stenotype beginner is SO per cent, better equipped for their work than a shorthand, writer of two years' experience." They add, "this is not a theory, but a fact that makes itself felt."' And, just as though they realised that insurance companies are rather conservative in their ways, the closing paragraph of their letter states: "It is most unusual for our company to write a, testimonial letter, but your little machine is doing such excellent work, both for employer and stenotypisx, that it is a pleasure to subscribe our namo hereto." Tuition in stenotypy is given at Gilby's Cfcllege, Winder's Buildings. AH particulars re price of machines and tuition fees are gladly given on application.— Advt. A fine theatre and concert hall is to be erected in Christchurch on the site of Canterbury Hall, destroyed by fire last year when under lease to Messrs. John Fuller and Sons. The architect will be Mr. H. E. White, who designed His Majesty's Theatre, Wellington, and other large thsatrcui in New Zealand and Australia.
