THE PURPLE COURTIERS
oI A costume comedy entertainment was i given in the Concert Chamber last night by a company of amateurs styling themselves the Purple Courtiers, in aid of tho rebuilding fund of St. Mary of the I Angels Church. The programme was j pleasantly varied, and the entertainment ! provided was of a high order, of merit! i One very pleasing and pretty turn was i "Chu Chin-- Chow," sung by Miss ! Queen M'lnerney. As an encore s-he sang "Hongkong," also an. Oriental, number, which was equally charming and ; acceptable. The tenor of the company Mr. Percy Martin, sang " My Queen" and "An Old Fashioned Town " in excellent style, and Mr. Sid Peek mado himself very popular with a good selection of light comedy songs. With Mr. George Peek, Miss M'lnerney sang "My Little Dutch Doll," and Mr. Peek also gave a series of character studies. Miss Fanny Joplin sang "Somewhere in France," ; and the Sisters Clarke Tosti's duet, "Parted." Mr. Will Church sang some good sea songs, and the ensemble numbers iWuded "Old King Cole," "Eat More Bread," " Nuts and May," and "Listen to the Band." Mr. J.'Duncan played the accompaniments.
