WATERSIDE WORKERS
ANNUAL MEETING OF THE
UNION.
About 1400 members attended the annual meeting of the Wellington Waterside Workers' Union, held in X Store this morning.
In his annual report, the secretary (Mr. J. G. Bruce) dealt at length -with the activities of the union during the past year. After a lengthy discussion, the report and balance-sheet were adopt- ; cd. • ' I The report from the delegate who attended the recent industrial conscription conference was received, and, after being fully discussed, was adopted. In his report the returning officer for the annual election of officers stated that he had found all the nominations to be in order, and the meeting decided to take a secret ballot on Thursday and Friday, next. Following is the list of nominations received : — President.—Mr. L. Glover. Vice-President, (one required).—Messrs. H. Berry, E. J. Seal, and L. Tremayne. Treasurer.—Mr. W. T.'Bassett. Secretary.—Mr.- J. G. Bruce. Assistant Secretary.—Messrs. H. Callaghan, A. Collinge, and James Laurenson. • . . , Executive.—No. 1 Stevedores (deep sea) Department (3 required): Messrs. Thomas Holding, George Wallace, J. J. Armstrong, and M. J. M'Kay. No. 2 SteveSores (coastal and inter-colonial), 3 required : Messrs. William Currie, Alexander Glass, D. M'Ewan, and T. Pressley. Coal Department, 3 required: .Messrs. T. Cartwright, G. Dumbleton, J. C. Frew, T. Reynolds, and J. E. Rowlands. Slip-workers, 1 required: Mr. W. Johnston. Harbour Board Department, 3 required,: Messrs. G. 'Matthews,. J. Smart, and. J. Townhill. Disputes ' Committee, 3 required: Messrs. A. Collinge, L. Glover, John Smart, T. Reynolds, and T. Pressley. Trustees, 3 required: Messrs. A. Bolton, S. G. Jones, arid E. Harrison. The question of the wet weather clause was referred to the disputes committee.
