NEW TRADES HALL

In connection with the purchase by the Wellington Trades and Labour Council of the late Dr. Martin's residence in Vivianstreet as a new Trades Hall, the proposal has been made that there should be a levy of 2s 6d upon every trade unionist. This, it is asserted; would relieve any anxiety in regard to the financial obligation of the-Trades and Labour Council, and would fall but lightly on the individual. The idea has not yet been definitely adopted, but it was endorsed last night by the Labour Day Committee, when there was a large and representative attendance.
