GERMAN BELLS

Sir, —I notice in your local column of last evening's issue reference to the set of bells at present in a church at Christchurch., These bells, it is'stated, are to be taken down, and failing any other use will be melted down. Take them down by all means, but in lieu of melting down. 'may I suggest that these bells should be carefully packed and sent to France, as a present from the Dominion to our Ally. —I am, etc., ■'. JOSEPH PIPER. 17th July.
