The Americans made a successful counter-attack in the Yaux region. The Germans are reported to have crossed the Marne by many bridges, in spite of the American resistance. - A new German offensive has begun in the 'Argonne (forty miles east of Reims). . : (Received July 16, 11 a.m.) . LONDON, 15th" July. There is a .bitter battle around Dormans (twelve miles east of Chateau Thierry), where the Germans are seeking to cross the Maine. The Americans counter-attacked at Chateau Thierry, and drove back the Germans 700 yards.
