There are only occasional samples of wheat oftering from North Canterbury, and it mostly fowl wheat. Odd samples of oats are also being submitted, and are selling at 4s and 4s 4d at country stations, according to quality. There is an improved demand for oatsheaf chaff, due to greater local requirements, and also for shipment. A special steamer is loading chart at southern ports and Lyttelton for Gisborne next week. Potatoes are in good demand, and buyers are giving £6 to £0 4s at country stations, the higher price for delivery at the beginning of next month. In other lines the market is very quiet. Onions are now bringing £10 to. £10 10s at country stations.
