Regret is expressed by. Mr. W. Lewis, ■who, as a labour of love, devotes much of his time to teaching swimming, that comparatively few boys have put in an appearance this season to take advantage of his gratuitous service. At the Thorndon,Baths,it is..chiefly .old,.pupils who have been already taught who. have gone along, While at Te Aro only from one to ,six...boys"" seek.his help. ... Mr. Lewis .writes,:—-"I want to see at least from one dozen to fifty boys.at Te Aro Baths m Saturdays who are' nonJswimrners—the more the merrier. I would like all these boys to see; me as regards land drill before entering the-water ; then my task and theirs would be a much, easier one. I. ..find i that; boys .under, eight years, of age are too slow to acquire the art compared with the older boys, and therefore Tnuch'. valuable" time is wasted on that account; I would be pleased also if the boys who I have taught and who have not entered their names in my notebook would do 'so by seeing the caretakers at. both'baths or myself when instructing'at the;'baths. ■ 'There is still about six weeks' of the swimming season left, and I am anxious to see what can be accomplished before/the season ends. The hours at Thorndon Baths are, in the week mornings, from 6.10 to 6.40 iLm.i'and'at"Te Aro Baths.on Saturdays from" 10 a.m. to noon and resuming at .1.30.. t04.30.p.m.". . .
