10 THE EDITOR. Sir, —The country cousins are watching with great interest the Wellington North mystery drama that is now being screened at the political theatre. So far the motive has not fully developed and the denouement is entirely concealed. At the outset it appeared that a considerable section of the clear-headed business men who leaven Wellington North electorate had gone balmy. But doubts are now beginning.to assail. If the desiro for true representative Government. —as against Party Boss Government has bitten sufficiently deep,. then, whatever the denouement, Wellington ■ North may have educated the people of New Zealand towards the necessity for a more capable rank and file politician than lias been bred, in the past out of our abounding prosperity. If Mr. Luke is beaten and there is a General Election, will the heavens wall, or will the clouds* of ignorance and prejudicate bo found' to have rolled away?—l am, etc. ■ ' COUNTRY COUSIN. \ Mastcrton, 14th February.
