Some weeks ago, it was decided by. the .officials of the Sailors'. Friend Society to endeavour to raiso a sum of money for certain necessary works in connection with 'the society's activities among tho sailors in Wellington. It was decided at the time to try and raise the money without resorting to bazaars, etc., and this has now been done. To-morrow evening, at. 7 o'clock, a.special thanksgiving service will bo held'in. the society's building to celebrate the raising of the money. .. Mr Moore will conduct the service.

Attention is called to a series of lectures, which will be delivered in.Wellington during the coming week, commencing in the Concert Chambor, Town Hall, to-morrow. These lectures bear upon the subject of the great war, . as . revealed in the prophecies of tho Bible. Tho lecturer is Mr. Boil Billing." The proceeds are being devoted to tho "Mayor and Mayoress's War Roliof Fund.". ' ,

At tha Unitarian Freo Church on Sunday evening tho Row G. E. Hale, 8.A., will preach upon "The Influence of the War upon tho Belief in God."
