SINKING A SUBMARINE

WASHINGTON, 7th June.
Following on the statement from Paris that the American steamer Silver Shell gave battle to a submarine in the Mediterranean, the Navy Departmentstates that the Silver Shell is the vessel.which was yesterday reported as having sunk a submarine. ■ . . . . . [The Silver Shejl is a vessel of 5836 tons, owned by the Shell Company, of California.] . :
