POULTRY RAISING

Poultry-raising was the subject o£ consideration at the last meeting- of the Board of Agriculture, when ,Mr. Gallichan, president of the Now Zealand Poultry Association, waited on tbo board, and laid before the members the views of that body as to what might be dope to improve the position of the poultry industry of tho Dominion. • A lengthy discussion ensued on the various suggestions put forward by Mr. Gallichan. Mr. Pope, Secretary of Agriculture, and Mr. F.i Brown, Chief Poultry Instructor of the Department of Agriculture, were present at the' discusEion, and expressed their' willingness to do all in their power to givo effect to tho suggestions that had been made in the direction of improving the industry. Mr. Brown pointed out that the first step necessary was to inoreaso the ogg production. It was decided to hold a further meeting with the executive of the Poultry Association prior to the conference of poultiymen which it is proposed should take placo in Wellington in July nexr.
