POTATOES FIRM IN PRICE.
J ,Tho N.Z. Janncrs' Co-oponttive Distributing Company reported to-day that the potato market is firm, and supplies are now coming to hand more freely from the South, which is relieving the temporary shortage. There 'is no change in wheat. Maize is in good demand, md prico remains firm. Oats are firm I*t recent quotations, and fair business I doing. Pollard is still practically un- , procurable Bran- is offering freely. I Eggs are- in very short supply, and .the ; high price is being maintained. Poultry i js in short supply, and there is teen de- | mand. There is good enquiry for prime dressed pork, and much larger supplies could be handled. The demand is still good for all classes of vegetables; and the supply of choice quality is very limited.. Green peas are Bcarco, and high in price. Choice lines of cabbages and cauliflowers are _ keenly bought up at high prices, but- inferior lines are hard to quit. French beans are selling well. Lettuce is in good demand. There a fair enquiry for swedes at satisfactory prices. , Pumpkins and marrows are plentiful. . The supply of carrots and parsnips has improved, and good prices are being' realised. Beetroot, spring onions, leeks, and celery are in good demand. Dessert and cooking apples are in good , supply, and realising fair rates. Tomatoes are scarce, andl bring high prices, i Choice dessert and cooking pears are in short supply, and the demand is good. Grapes are selling well. Quinces are | bringing fair prices.
