ST. LUKE'S, WADESTOWN
The annual meeting of parishioners of St. Luke's, Wadestown, was held on Tuesday evening, the Vicar (Rev. C. EL Harvey) presiding. There was a numerous attendance..
The report of the vestry, read by Mr. F. J. Halse (churchwarden) stated that the financial position of the church was satisfactory; the receipts for the year showing the substantial increase over last year of £50. There had been an "advance of £16 in the general offertories, and the collections for special funds had been liberally responded to.' The annual.sale of work was held in November last with encouraging results, £100 being paid off the vicarage debt, which now stands at £580. The Education Board having terminated its tenancy of the church schoolroom, the church loses the sum of £35 per annum, but it-ie anticipated that this loss will be partly ' made good by letting the room for sundry purposes. The room, , however,- needs renovating and repainting, and.the heating of the church during the winter months is also commended to the attention of the incoming vestry. The vestiy records its thanks to the lay-readers, ladies' guild, decorators' guild, Sundayschool teachers, organist and choir, for thair services during the year/ and especially to the vicar, to whose energy
and tact the satisfitctory position of the church affairs is in great part duo. Tho balance-sheet showed total receipts amounting to £352 11s 9d, and a balance, after paying all liabilities, of £44 6s 6d. The report and balance-sheet were adopted, and the vicar gave a short fiddress expressing satisfaction with the progress of church work in the district. Mr. H. Pankhurst was appointed churchwarden by the vicar, and the election of other church officers resulted as follows:—People's churchwarden, Air. P J. Halse; vestry, Messrs. J. S. Young, S. Brice, G. A". Taylor, Hillrie, C. H. Wyett, W. J. Lees, P J. Wilkinson. J G. Cook, B. S. Withers, and E. Aldereon ; auditor, Mr. W. R. Morris. Mr. W. J. Lees was elected to represent the district at the forthcoming Diocesa'ii Synofl. Singing by members of the choir and others, and refreshments provided by the ladies, brought a pleasant gathering to a close.
