"I hope the public realises how important a railway ticket is at a time like this," said the Acting-Prime Minister (Sir James Allen), referring to the strike telegram from the West Coast. "I cannot understand," he added, "men leaving work for such a" cause as that. It, is inconceivable to me that men could do such a thing." The Minister added that ho and the Minister of Mines (Hon. W. D. S. Mac Donald) are meeting the mineowners this afternoon.
