PAHIATUA, ,25th April. A Departmental enquiry was opened to-day concerning a runaway night train at Mangamaire. The engine had been uncoupled for shunting, and the rest of the train, comprising two, carriages (with several passengers), and several tracks, then moved off steadily down an incline several mile* towards Pahiatua station. No damage was reported. The engine subsequently went after the runaway train.
