FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION
DELEGATES' MEETING. Th« delegates of the Wellington Football Association met last evening. Mr. A. E. Wells presumed over a large number of representatives from the various clubs. A letter was received from the 30th n.c.o.'s at present in camp at Trentham, asking that a game be arranged between a team from their ranks and a. team from the V.M.C.A. The request met with approval, and the match will be played at Wakefield' Park on Saturday next. Permission was given, to the Marist Brothers' teame'to change their colours from green and white to green, white, and. bluck. A letter from the Boys' Institute suggesting that the age limit of playeTs be 20 years was the cause of lengthy discussion. Finally, the following motion was carried : "That no Association football above 3rd grade be played, and that grade to' be divided into A and B divisions; the A division, to have no age limit; the B division to, have an age limit of 20 years. This' arrangement will provide for players exempt from military service and soldiers in camp. The dearth of referees for the Association game was deplored by ali present. It was stated that the greatest difficulty was experienced in obtaining the services oi men to supervise the games during the season. Many old players could make themselves very useful in this respect, and it was hoped that some would come forward and offer their services^ to the committee.; Football had to be played in order to enable the young fellows to keep fit, so that they could enter camp, when their time came, in good condition; but the game conld not be played without referees. A further suggestion was that players of the- third grade could very easily takton themselves the duties of referees for tha junior games played early in the afternoon. In connection with this matter, a meeting of the Referees' Association will be held next week. MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETING. After the delegates' meeting, the Management Committee of the Association held a meeting, which was presided .over by Mr. A. E. Wells. An application from the n.c.o.'s of the 30th Reinforcements for admission to the association was considered. After discussion it was decided that they 'could play in the 3rd A Grade, provided that they agreed to play under the association's regulations. The club will be known officially as the Trentham Association Football Club. , The entrance fees for the ensuing season were fixed at £3 3s for 3rd A Grade and £2 2s for 3rd B Grade. Entries received up to date are 35 —third class 5, fourth 7, fifth 11, sixth 12.' All entries close'on Tuesday night next. iA motion was carried that the New Zealand Football Association be asked, in view of the stress of the times, to reduce the annual subscription of the various associations.
