M'Vicai", Annie Monk, G. A. Petherick, G. J. Galloway, W. Thompson, W. J. Moore, F. T. Aitken, Jessie In the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board election, the Rev. H. Van Staveren headed the poll for the .city, Miramar, and Karori with 8242 votes. At the last election Mr. Van Staveren was third, with 11,870 votes, first and second places' being occupied by Dr. PlattaMills and Mrs. Wilford, who did not seek re-election on this occasion. Ono Labour candidate, Mrs. Aitken, had secured a place on the board.' All the old members except Mr. B. G. H. Burn {who previously filled a vacancy by nomination) were returned. .' The ; new members. are Mrs. Aitken, Mrs. Grace Neill, and Mrs. F. J. M'Lean. There are five lady members . returned, as against four on the last occasion. Mr.. J. W. M'Ewan (Petone) and Mr. H. Baldwin (Hutt and Eastbourne) were returned unopposed. The country members, Messrs. Truman, Monk (Horowhenua), Galloway (Hutt), and Moore (Makara) retain their seats until November.
