LAUNCHED IN ENGLASD LONDON, 23rd April Mrs. W. p. Massey performed the. christening ceremony in connection with the launching of the Union Company's Armagh LThe Armagh is practically a sister ship to' 1 the Northumberland, a. vessel of the Federal ■ and Shire Line, and which is now well known in Wellington. Wuen the war started the Armagh was in the builders' hands, but owing ■ to the rush of war vessels she has, for some considerable time, remained in a. state of semicompleUon. Now, with the sudden decision of ■ the British Government to build cai;go vessels, I she has been completed. The vessel, which is ono of some 12,000 tons gross, is intended for the New Zealand meat trade, and like.her , sister ship, will also carry passengers. She ■ is fitted with the latest cargo-working appliances, and a. powerful set of refrigerating machinery. The new vessel will be propelled by lour geared turbines, coupled to two shafts, and will hiive a cruiser stern. Her length is 635 ft, breaifth 63ft, and depth 31.9 ft. Tho builders arc Swan, Hunter, Wigram and Richardson.)
