TRAMWAY ALTERATIONS
TO THB EDITOR. Sir ( ■According to the new time-table,' the residents of Kilbirnie between the Post Office- and Hataitai will not, have any service after 9.5 a.m. except the Seatoun and Miramar service, which may be altered as per notice. Hataitai has a ten-minute service to and from Lambkin Station. Why? What traffic is there to justify this? .There are many more residents between Hataitai and Kilbirnie P. 0., including 1 the Evans Bay-Slip people. That expensive-running lino t<> LyaJlßßaty t via Constable-street is to have, after 9.15, a twenty minutes' service 'until 4.53. ' As most of,, the traffic onl that line is as far as the top of Constable-street, why should not the cars run via the tunnel as on Sundays, and so serve the.Kilbirnie people? Is it not time the residents east of the-- tunnel range took steps to petition Parliament to do away with the present system of civic representation, and return to the ward system? There is not a single councillor resident east of the tunnel; most are resident in the Newtown district.—l am, etc.,
