SOLDIERS' MUNICIPAL VOTES

- The Minister of Defence (Sir James Allen) has sent tho following reply to tho letter which 1 he received from Mr. J. E, Fitzgerald, of Wellington, asking if the Defence authorities would make it convenient for 300 soldiers who are burgesses in th© city to leave camp and exercise their votes at to-morrow's poll: "In answer to your letter of the 23rd inst. I regret- that special leave from camp cannot be sanctioned to enable 1 soldiers to record their votes at the municipal elections .in Wellington, as it would create a precedent which it would bo difficult to refuse, in the case of otheu municipalities." '
