WATERSIDE UNION
At a general nieeCng of the Waterside Workers' Union last evening Mr. F. Curtice presiding, recommendations from the executive were adopted as follow :— (1) That £2 be donated to the funds of the band to defray the expenses of the recent concert at the Town Hall Concert Chamber; (2) recommendation re breaches of agreements, complaints from employers and accidents' reports; (3) that all gambling within the vicinity of tho labour stands to be stopped, and members be asked to discourage strangers from loitering for the purpose of gambling; (4) that the union back the band so as to finance another Sunday concert; (sa) that notice of motion, be given that the union donate £75 ' per year to the band fund; (sb) that notice of motion be given that the union supply uniforms for bandsmen; (6) that the account re funerals of late members be paid by the union; (7) that a special meeting be called to strike a levy of 2a 6d towards a funeral fund; (8) that the Waterside Workers' Federation be asked to arrange a conference with the shipping companies, Harbour Board, harbourmaster, Marine Department, and inspectors for the consideration of provisions for the safety of life on wharf and ship; (9) that no action be taken re the correspondence from the Labour Representation Committee.
