BUTTER PRICES

INCIDENCE OF THE LEVY.

In referring to the Board of Trade butter scheme yesterday, The Post stated:—"At the moment we_ are not clear whether the compensating levy falls on the export butter industry and not on the export cheese industry; concerning the incidence of the levy there seems to be some hiatus."

On reference to the Board it was made clear that the compensating levy being applied to all butter-fat will fall equally on batter and cheese. Were this not the case there would be a danger of the diversion of butter-fat supplies to cheese factories.
