LONDON 12th October. The North Ayrshire by-eleotion resulted: General Hunter-Wesiton (Coalition ( ist) 7159; Rev. Humphrey Chalmers (Independent) 1300.
[Major-General A. O. Hunter-Weston was in command of tbe Bth Corps in ! Gallipoli. On 17th July last year he had to leave the peninsula for a rest, and was, subsequently invalided home. In.his despatch on the operations there, General Sir lan Hamilton referred to 9<meral Hunter- Weston's "invincible df-confidence, untiring energy, and ained ability."]
