FIERCE BATTLES IN PROGRESS,

PETROGRAD, sth September. A Russian communique states: —We repelled attempted Turkish night attacks westward of Erzinjau. Fierce battles continue westward of Ognot. The Turks are hurriedly retreating. We are pressing the enemy in Persia south-west of Sakkiz.
