RAID AT A BOXING MATCH.,

FIFTY MEN ARRESTED. LONDON, sth September. A great sensation was caused in Blackfriars owing to a police raid made on premises iv which a boxing contest was taking place.

Detectives, accompanied by soldiers with, fixed bayonets, took possession of the building, which was crowded by 3000 spectators. The police demanded that every eligible man should show his papers and explain why he was not in khaki.

Instantly tlie dodgers and shirkers among the crowd attempted to escape. Fifty were arrested and taken in a procession through the streets .amidst loud applause from wounded soldiers in the vicinity.
