The battle on the Somme is being continued witK great fury. .On the southern' end of the line the French success has been marked. The .villages of Soyecourt and Chilly have been captured, and .Vermandovillers practically surrounded. At Moquet Farm the Anzacs added lustre to their name by defeating Germany's best troops, the Prussian Guards. This attack was a .valuable factor in the British advance. Strenuous fighting continues in the >Verdun area, and the French have added to their gains at Fleury. Rumania has sequestrated forty million sterling of German capital. Reports froru Budapest state that there is a veritable panic in Transylvania, refugees fleeing the country in their thousands. In the Dobruja the Rumanians are retiring before the enemy, but are falling back on the Russians, who are rapidly advancing. The German press declares that the campaign in this region may decide ithe Balkan issue. Mr.'W. Jeffries states that the Opposition in Greece is almost at an end, and that the opinion is increasing that Greece will join the Allies. The Bulgar offensive apparently has collapsed, and Greek troops have obtained freedom of movement. N.
