ASSESSING WAR PROFITS.

A question asked by Mr. J. A. Young, in the House of Representatives, was whether the Government, in view of the proposed war profits being assessed on a basis of the difference between present and pre-war incomes, it will define war (profit in so far as it relates to farmers anil others whose incomes are derived from land, particularly with reference to those who have not in past years made up pre-wax income returns and are not now by any means in a position to do so?

The Rt. Hon. Sir Joseph Ward {Minister of Finance), in reply, stated that the maitter will be dealt with in the Finance Bill to be duly submitted to the House.;
