The Nelson City Council had before it at its. meeting last week the report of the Gas Engineer concerning the proposal to extend the gas supply to Tahuna.. It is stated that the total cost would be approximately £3100, and the revenue about £420 per annum, giving a return of 13i per cent. The mains would be laid along Hocks-road as far as Stoke-road, but as the Waimea County Council had not yet given its consent to the laying of the mains, it was decided that a. deputation wait upon the County Council and nuike representations on the matter, as the scheme has met with good support from the residents of Tahuna, who wish the work to be carried out at an early date.
