BRITISH MUSIC
' 10 THE EDITOR. Sir, —I notice a letter on the above subject in your issue of the 13th in'stanit complaining that our musical societies do not present more music by British composers. I would like to draw the attention of your correspondent to tie fact that at the last concert of the Wellington Harmonic Society, compositions by Elgar, Faning, Ed. German, ■Cooke, Leslie, Barnby, Walter Macfarren, and Pinsuti were sung. With the exception of Pinsuti, all these are British composers; while he, . although an Italian by birth, spent many years. in England, holding the position of Professor of Singing at the Royal Academy. At the society's next concert, works by Win. Byi-d (born 1538), Thos. Morley (1595), Sullivan, Percy Fletcher, .Robertson, and Cyril Jenkins—all Britishers ■ —will be sung.—l am, etc.,
