MEXICO WARNED

GRAVEST. CONSEQUENCES IF ARMS ARE TAKEN UP;

(Received June 21, 11.30 a.m.)

NEW YORK, 20th June.

Router's Agency at Washington states that; in replying to the recent demand of the Mexican de facto Government for the immediate withdrawal of American troops from Mexican soil, Mr. Lansing, in a Note handed to the Mexican Ambassador, flatly refuses, and . rebukes the Carranza Government for the discourteous, tone of its last communication.

The Note recites a long series of outrages against Americans, both in' Mexico and on the soil of the United States, and expresses the belief that the Carranza Government does not desire Villa and his band to be captured, either by the troops of the United States or those of Mexico. ■

The Note says: -, "Adherents of Car-. ranza, and his soldiers, participated in the recent attacks on American towns, when the uncivilised act of mutilation was perpretated on the bodies of- the murdered Americans."

• The Note warns the Mexicans of the gravest consequences if, as they threaten, to do, they, appeal Ho arms against /the1 troops of the United States.
