18th REINFORCEMENT FULL

ALL PREVIOUS SHORTAGES

MADE GOOD,

The 18th Reinforcement, which will be mobilised for training next week, is now complete, and in addition all previous shortages have been made good. The- official figures of the registrations of the infantry as at date of Friday, the 16th inst., all other arms of the service being'full, are as follow :—

Group No. 1, Auckland City, surplus 152; No. 2, Paeroa., shortage 47; No. 3,, Whangarei, shortage 16; No.. 4, Hamilton, —. Total surplus for Auckland Military District,'B9.

. Group No. 5, Wellington City, surplus 41; No. 6, Palmerston North, surplus 38; No. 7, Napier, shortage 43; No. 7a, Masterton, surplus 23; No. 8, plawera, shortage 1. Total surplus for Wellington Military District, 58.

Group No. 9, Christ-church City, shortage 5; No. 10, Timar.u, surplus, 42; No. 11, Kaiapoi, surplus 20.; No. lla, Greymouth, shortage 14; No. 12, Nelson, surplus 4. Total surplus for Canterbury Military District, 47.

Group No. 13, Dunedin City, shortage 22; No. 14, Invercargill, surplus 2; No. 15, Oamaru, shortage, 2; No. 16, Milton, surplus 4. Total shortage for Otago Military District, 18.

Total Dominion surplus for the 18th Reinforcements, 176. There was existing at the same date a shortage on previous drafts, and owing to wastage in camp, of 88, but the surplus enlistments shown above for the 18th.Reinforcement now converts this into an excess of 88.
